Next Davis Cup Czech Republic vs Romania in Jeopardy

Posted on September 5, 2011 at 6:05 PM

Radek Stepanek and Tomas Berdych, the top Czech players are both injured and doubtful for the next Davis Cup clash between Czech Republic and Romania (16-18 Sept. 2011 in Bucharest).

Radek Stepanek retired with a right shoulder injury in his match against Juan Monaco at the US Open.

Tomas is struggling with a right shoulder injury he picked up when hitting a high volley during a doubles match in Cincinnati, the day before he beat Federer. Then, he had to pull out of his semi-final match against Novak Djokovic in Cincinnati.

Tomas who has been playing nice tennis at Flushing Meadows also retired during his third-round match at the US Open against 20th-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia.... really sad, so frustrating!

Tomas said in his last interview: "I will not play if I'm not one hundred percent ready and healthy again".

Radek and Tomas, both will  have a consultation with Professor Pavel Kolar in Prague.

Well, we'll have to wait for further information from Tomas.
