Samantha Stosur beat Lucie Safarova 6-0 7-6 (7-1) in just over an hour. Stosur, seeded fourth, won an impressive 84 percent of points on her first serve and managed to save three of four break points she faced. Stosur cruised into the fourth round. It was her first win in five meetings with the Czech. It was not a good day for the Czech women players, exit Zakopalova, Benesova and alas Safarova.

In the evening, Lucie attended the match between Tomas and Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo. She seems affected by her loss to Samantha Stosur. Don't worry Lucie, bf Tomas will bring a smile to your face.

Tomas was too good for Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo

MATCH REPORT - Eurosport

Tomas Berdych takes on Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo for a place in the third round opposite Carlos Berlocq, who beat Ernests Gulbis earlier on today.

There's a big problem with one of the sets of flood-lights on the Grandstand Arena which is causing a big delay after the warm-up in the Ramirez Hidalgo-Berdych clash. The players have been through the warm-up and are just about ready to get the clash underway, apart from the lack of light that is!

The lights are back on but it's been so long since the warm-up that they'll have to go through it all again.

BERDYCH 2-1 - BREAK - A double fault from Ramirez Hidalgo doesn't help his cause as Berdych grabs an early break in this much delayed clash. The Czech is on the front foot already and looks in no mind to mess around tonight.

BERDYCH 4-1 - BREAK - Berdych is simply dominating Ramirez Hidalgo right now and grabs another break to leave himself potentially just two games away from a very comfortable first set.

BERDYCH 6-1 - SET - A third break of serve goes the way of Berdych as he cruises through the first set for the loss of just the one game. The Czech has one foot in the third round now.

BERDYCH 6-1 6-7(4) - SET - Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo bounces back with an impressive tie-break, despite going an early break down in the second set. And the Spaniard has leveled up to force a decider against Berdych.

BERDYCH 6-1 6-7(4) 6-0 - GAME, SET & MATCH - Tomas Berdych bounces back from his second set slight lapse in concentration and races through the final set without dropping a game. So the Czech is through to the third round where he will Argentina's Carlos Bercoq.

I am in Spain and was happy to watch 'live' à la telly (TDP - Teledeporte) the first games between Tomas and Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo before the match Nadal/Nishikori. Tomas is gorgeous in blue. Blue Eyes, Blue Shirt!
