The runner-up of the Championships 2010, Tomas Berdych revealed that the Wimbledon Championships 2019 will be his last tournament at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
According to reports, Tomas Berdych said in London, “This may be my last Wimbledon.”
Tomas Berdych has been hampered and limited by hip problems since February. Reports suggest that Berdych will make a decision about his career after the Wimbledon Championships 2019. He said, “There are better days and worse days but it never gets okay.”
According to reports, Tomas Berdych could make some decisions about his career after the tournament.
Earlier, the Czech had withdrawn from the French Open 2019 in the previous month due to a back injury. Before entering the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Berdych played his last tournament at the Indian Wells Masters in March.
Tomas Berdych suggested that he is not 100 percent fit to play after withdrawing from the Roland Garros. He said, “I am not 100 percent ready to play the way I want to be.”
Berdych returned from an injury at the beginning of the 2019 season. However, the Czech has been experiencing more problems during the season which forced him to skip the clay season.
After skipping the clay season, the 33-year-old indicated that he would return to the grass court season. However, the former World No. 4 has dropped to No. 112 at the ATP rankings.
Tomas Berdych will face the American, Taylor Fritz in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships 2019 on Tuesday. Berdych skipped Wimbledon, last year due to a pain in the back.
Tomas Berdych made a debut at the Championships in 2004, ended a streak of participating in the most prestigious tournament of tennis for the past 14 years. However, this year he has returned to Wimbledon but with the sad news of playing his last event at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
