At this year's Australian Open Tomas Berdych dropped off just a few games against Kyle Edmund and Robin Haase and then a set to Diego Schwartzman. Now the Czech will try to upset the 17-time Major winner. Berdych defeated Marco Cecchinato in a straight-set Doha Open semifinal match, and speaking to the Italian's coach Simone Vagnozzi commented on the upcoming match between Berdych and Nadal. 'It will be a tough one.
Tomas was feeling good physically in Qatar, in Australia courts are faster and so he feels even more comfortable', said Vagnozzi. On his six-month break from tennis, Berdych added: 'Staying off the court for such a long time was unusual.
Now I just want to enjoy myself. The rankings do not matter, I just want to face the strongest guys and achieve good results.' He also spoke about one of his biggest memories: 'In 2015 Rome I won a great match against Fognini on Pietrangeli Stadium.
Fabio made the ultimate step forward and he can crack the top ten. And also Cecchinato is a player I like: he is willingness and prepared.' Berdych got married to his longtime girlfriend Ester Satorova in 2015. Will they become parents anytime soon? 'I am happy and I focus on my tennis.
Once I stop I will completely focus on spending time with my wife and we will have a bigger family. But for now I enjoy a lot playing.' Berdych will play the Montpellier Open next.
