It wasn't a calm romantic holiday for Andreas Seppi and his newly-wedded wife Michela Bernardi, who are in New Zealand for their honeymoon.
The country was devastated by a 7.9 earthquake on Saturday causing a tsunami and several damages. Via Instagram, Mrs. Seppi rassured on their own conditions, 'Thanks for all the messages and the calls. Andy and I are doing well. We are stuck currently on the South Island awaiting a ferry to connect us to the North Island. The shakes from the earthquake woke us up, but we are okay and are still really enjoying our time here.'
The country has been hit by at least 1,823 earthquakes since the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on Monday, according to GeoNet, New Zealand's government-funded earthquake monitoring service. It was the largest tremor in the quake-prone country since 2009, it said, while early assessments of the geological changes indicate it was one of the "most complex earthquakes ever recorded on land".
