Tomas beat Italian Andreas Seppi in his opening match on Monday to reach the second round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. Today he will face Nicolas Mahut who defeated lucky loser Daniel Brands. The German replaced Gilles Simon who had to withdraw due to a back injury.

Third seed Tomas Berdych and Wimbledon semi-finalist Jerzy Janowicz will meet in a quarter-final slugfest after both enjoyed comfortable wins Thursday. Berdych defeated Frenchman Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-3 after saving all four break points he faced. Janowicz hammered 18 aces past German veteran Tommy Haas and did not face a break point in a 6-4, 6-4 win.
