Tomas Berdych <3

Less than eighteen hours after his tough semifinal battle at Roland Garros against Swede Robin Soderling, an unexpected guest appeared this morning on the Centre court of tennis club Prostejov. He arrived by a special flight offered to the semifinalist by Roland Garros organizers. Tomas received a warm welcome and many congratulations for his great success in Paris.

Dr. Miroslav Černošek and the president of Czech Tennis Federation Ing. Ivo Kaderka: "Your performance in Paris was a great advertisement not only for Czech tennis, but also the whole Czech sport. We are proud of you and we love very much." *me too-me too!*

Now Tomas needs some rest. He will skip the tournament in Halle on grass and go directly to Wimbledon.

word of the day: beau gosse

"beau gosse" I heard it yesterday from a French journalist during SF résumé: "Soderling beat le beau gosse".

Phrase of French origin, the literary translation being "good looking kid". Typically used as an appreciative term for handsome young men."Tomas Berdych... wahouh, quel beau gosse!".

Well, a compliment coming from a French journalist, it will be snowing in summer...

Tomas Berdych is a first timer Grand Slam semi finalist.
He is also the first player from the Czech Republic to reach the French Open semifinals since 1992.
