Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek have given Czech Republic a convincing 3-0 victory over Belgium in their Davis Cup by BNP Paribas first round tie in Bree. The visitors overcame Steve Darcis and Olivier Rochus 76(0) 60 63 in Saturday's doubles rubber.
Berdych and Stepanek, who have now won six of their seven Davis Cup doubles rubbers, dropped serve only once, breaking their opponents five times in a comfortable victory in just under two hours.
The Czechs will go on to face the winners of the delayed Chile-Israel encounter in the quarterfinals, where they would be away to Chile or home to Israel. The team is looking to repeat its heroics of 2009, where it reached its first final since 1980 before losing to Spain in Barcelona.
Tomas Berdych and teammate Radek Stepanek jubilate on the second day of the Davis Cup tennis match in Bree, Belgium, Saturday March 6, 2010. The Czech Republic won the match against Belgium and qualified for next round.
