Update January 10, 2010: French top seed Gael Monfils has withdrawn from the Sydney International, citing a shoulder problem. Czech Tomas Berdych, the second seed, is now the designated highest men's seed of the tournament and lucky loser Daniel Gimeno-Travers of Spain will take Monfils’ place in the main draw.

On Saturday 9 January 2010 the draw for the Sydney tournament was performed and Tomas is the 2nd seed. In the first round of the tournament he received a bye. Tomas will start in the second round against either Peter Luczak or Jose Acasuso.


Tomas Berdych Hoping To Improve

Tomas Berdych will launch his sixth assault on the Medibank International trophy. The Czech player, who suffered a first-round exit last year, is a two-time former quarter-finalist.
