28 March 2012

Prostejov, South Moravia, March 28 (CTK) - Czech Davis Cup team captain Jaroslav Navratil Wednesday welcomed the information that the Serbian tennis team that will play in Prague next week is not to include world's current top player Novak Djokovic.

Navratil said Djokovic may be added to the team at the last moment, however. He nevertheless added that he does not expect this to happen.

The Serb and Czech tennis teams will meet in the quarterfinals of the World Group on April 6-8.

Tomas Berdych, number one in the Czech team, said the Czechs now have a good chance to make good for the defeat by Serbs in the tie two years ago.

Berdych said the Czechs do not feel to be the favourites of the quarterfinal. He recalled that Janko Tipsarevic is number nine in the ATP world rankings.

Berdych is number seven in the rankings.

The Serbs nominated also Viktor Troicki (27th in ATP), Dusan Lajovic and doubles player Nenad Zimonjic.

Apart from Berdych, Radek Stepanek (25th in ATP), Lukas Rosol and Frantisek Cermak who plays doubles have been nominated to the Czech team.

The matches will be played on clay in the Prague O2 Arena for up to 13,500 spectators.
