Tomas Berdych and Lucie Safarova enjoyed karting during Hopman Cup 2007. The Czech pairing of Lucie Safarova and boyfriend Tomas Berdych came into the tournament ranked third. The Hopman Cup is an Official Team Competition of the ITF and is an international mixed event that takes place at the start of each year at the Burswood Dome, in the city of Perth. It’s a good preparation for the Australian Open. The beauty of the exhibition is the fact that it gives the players, coming off a minimum month's break from competitive play, at least three matches against highly ranked opponents to find form, rather than running the risk of being knocked out early in a tour event.
