New ATP Rankings. 22 August, 2011

Andy Murray is closing in on Roger Federer in the men’s tennis rankings released on Monday by the ATP.

Murray, who won the Cincinnati Masters on Sunday, when world number one Novak Djokovic had to retire with an injury, is now less than 2,000 points behind the Swiss.

Djokovic continues to lead the standings with 13,920 points from Spain’s Rafael Nadal, who has 11,420.

The leading four are unchanged, while Nicolas Almagro of Spain returns to the top 10 at 10th.

Roddick drops from No. 15 to No. 21 – just in time for the rankings list that should determine the seedings at the U.S. Open, which starts a week from Monday.
