It's pretty rare that Tomas takes part in the doubles tournament during a Masters Series 1000 tournament... He seems to be focused on his tennis in Montreal.

The ATP’s top two singles players, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, met mixed fates in first-round doubles action Monday at the Rogers Cup, an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal.
World No. 1 Djokovic and Serbian Davis Cup teammate Janko Tipsarevic prevailed against Mark Knowles and Philipp Petzschner 5-7, 6-3, 12-10, while No. 2 Rafael Nadal and Spanish compatriot Marc Lopez lost to Tomas Berdych and Florian Mayer 6-3, 7-6(5).
Djokovic and Tipsarevic are making their sixth main draw appearance as a tandem, and their first since 2008 at the Queen’s Club. Nadal and Lopez have won three titles from their team’s previous nine outings, including the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title last year in Indian Wells.
Djokovic and Nadal had teamed together last year at the Rogers Cup, bowing out to Canadians Vasek Pospisil and Milos Raonic in the first round.
In the only other doubles match, Spaniard Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco ousted Canadian wild cards Pospisil and Adil Shamasdin 6-4, 6-3.
