MATCH REPORT | Eurosport

Third quarter-final between Tomas Berdych and Richard Gasquet coming up for you. Players warming up on court.

Berdych to serve in the opening game of the match.

BERDYCH 1-0 - Tough opener for the Czech player, but he comes through it well to hold after Gasquet drills a couple of fine winners past Berdych on the backhand side in reaching deuce. Gasquet to serve.

BERDYCH 1-1 - Nice play from Gasquet to level in the second game of the match. Some decent serving from Gasquet as he holds serve to deuce. Decent early response. Looks like it is cooling a bit out on court.

BERDYCH 2-1 - Berdych holds to love in the third game of the set. Solid reponse from the Czech player to hold and maintain his early advantage.

BERDYCH 2-2 - Gasquet in a spot of bother early in the game, but he battles through the game despite being forced to deuce. Forced to save a break point - no breaks as yet. A tough game for the French player, but nice one for him to win.

BERDYCH 3-2 - Berdych not really being tested on serve at the moment. Well in control on serve. Gasquet content to hang in there and hope for a few mistakes from his opponent, but not too many errors so far.

BERDYCH 3-3 - Gasquet holds his serve in the sixth game. Both men have thrown down a couple of aces in this set. No break as yet. Gasquet winning 82% of points on first serve. First serve of vital importance to the Frenchman.

BERDYCH 4-3 - The Czech player forced to unearth a heaving ace to level at 30-30 before going on to hold serve for a 4-3 lead. Berdych will be looking to push on from there. Key stage of the opening set.

BERDYCH 4-4 - Gasquet holding firm on serve. He continues to keep the ball in play and is getting some venom on his groundstrokes. No sign yet of that elusive first break.

BERDYCH 5-4 - Berdych continues to go untested on serve. Not quite another love game, but he manages to get through that one dropping only point. A 5-4 lead for the Czech. Big ask now for Gasquet.

BERDYCH 6-4 - FIRST SET TO BERDYCH! Floated a super little backhand winner up the line that Gasquet could not reach to bring up two break points. He gets the job done in the second point as the ball sat up for him to slam a winner beyond Gasquet. Berdych looking the better player at this stage of the match.

BERDYCH 0-1 BREAK TO GASQUET! Superb response from Gasquet at the outset of the second set as he enjoys a break for the first time in the match. Interesting to see how Berdych responds to his plight after throwing in a couple of errors to drop serve.

BERDYCH 0-2 - Gasquet forced to battle hard in that one to cement the earlier break. Berdych posed the question at 40-40, but Gasquet showed his touch at the net with a lovely little winning volley on the backhand side during that game. He leads 2-0 early in the second set.

BERDYCH 0-3 - BREAK TO GASQUET! Berdych suddenly looking extremely ragged. Smacked a forehand into the net to drop serve for a second time in the match - a reprieve for Gasquet after he emptied a volley into the net with the court at his mercy in the previous point. Looks like we will need a deciding set in this match.

BERDYCH 0-4 - Gasquet with a 4-0 lead in this set. Well on top. An air of resignation hanging over Berdych in this set as Gasquet holds serve. The winner of this match will face Rafael Nadal in the last four.

BERDYCH 1-4 - Berdych gets one game on the board in this second set. Gasquet continues to come up with some imaginative shots from around the court, but Berdych keeps his cool at 30-30 to see it out. A 4-1 lead for Gasquet with two breaks.

BERDYCH 1-5 - Berdych decidely unhappy with life in that game as he unsuccessfully appeals for a point before being warned by the umpire for his conduct. A 5-1 lead for Gasquet, who drops only one point on serve to move within one game of forcing a third set.

BERDYCH 2-5 - Berdych asks the question of Gasquet by holding serve with some comfort. Still smarting from losing that game, but he holds himself together to close to 2-5. Gasquet will serve for it.

BERDYCH 2-6 SET TO GASQUET! Berdych had a point for a break back in that game, but he can't convert as Gasquet finishes the set like he started it - on top. Anybody's match now, but you would have to fancy Gasquet to repeat his win over Federer.

BERDYCH 1-0 An important hold for Berdych in the opening game of this deciding set, especially after his trials and tribulations of the previous set. Berdych fairly hammering those forehands, but Gasquet has been up to the challenge so far.

BERDYCH 1-1 Berdych looked for all the world like he was going to move a break up in this closing set, but Gasquet comes up with the shots at the right time to level at 1-1. A few stunning shots - including a flashing backhand winner down the line - is good enough for the French player to get the job done. He levels at 1-1.

BERDYCH 2-1 - Berdych forced to produce the goods in that game with the flashing backhand blade of Gasquet working to some effect. Berdych holds, but this match could go anyway. Difficult to call this one at the moment. Both men have won 68 points in this match.

BERDYCH 2-2 - Gasquet not going quietly into the night. A nice service game when he needed it, and he needed it there. No breaks of serve in the final set. Get the feeling that one more break may do the job for either man in this match.

BERDYCH 2-3 GASQUET BREAKS! Berdych falters at the net as Gasquet's impressive shot-making skills begin to take effect. Berdych misses an easy volley before his opponent sticks away the point he needs for the key break. He serves to cement the break for a 4-2 advantage.

BERDYCH 3-3 BERDYCH BREAKS! Gasquet will be disappointed with that service game. Missed a volley on the rise before ripping a forehand into the net moments later. No break as we reach 3-3, but are back on serve. Difficult to predict how this one is going to unravel.

BERDYCH 3-4 BREAK TO GASQUET! Some stunning defensive shots by Gasquet. Terrific stuff from the Frenchman as he lives with Berdych in the key points to break for a second time. With a 4-3 lead now in this set. Can he see this through? He is a break up. What a chance to reach the last four.

BERDYCH 3-5 Gasquet holds to move one game away from the last four. Was 15-30 down in that game, but he has produced some lovely shot on the forehand and backhand sides when the pressure was on. Up to Berdych now... he is out if he loses this game.

BERDYCH 4-5 Going for two hours in this match. Berdych holds serve with some ease to keep Gasquet honest. The French player just needs to hold to book his spot against Nadal in tomorrow's semi-final.

BERDYCH 4-6 GAME, SET AND MATCH GASQUET! A stunning winner from Gasquet on the forehand side flies past Berdych at the net. He is quick to bring up three match points before he finishes off the match with a stunning winner down the line. Fine shot to finish it off. Great backhand winner. 34 unforced to 30 from Berdych. Star quality to see the match out to love. He will face Rafael Nadal in the last four.
