during their quarterfinal match at the ATP Malaysian Open tennis tournament
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.
quick forget... so many bp... sad, sad, sad, unlucky Tomas.
David Ferrer saved four match points and broke back in the ninth game of the final set to defeat Tomas Berdych in three gruelling sets with a 4-6 7-5 6-4 scoreline and reached the semi-final of the Malaysian Open, an ATP World Tour 250 event, being played here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Berdych won the first set with the help of a crucial break in the seventh game. The Czech's fantastic returns, coupled with confident play in service games, did the trick for him. Ferrer, on the other hand made a few uncharacteristic errors that saw him missing one opportunity after another and Berdych took the first set with a 6-4 scoreline.
Both the players held on to their serves in the second-set before Ferrer got the decisive break in the twelfth game of the second set and pocketed it with a 7-5 scoreline to equalize the proceedings in the match.
Berdych played fantastically in the third set and also earned the break in the seventh game, but Ferrer broke back in the next game, as Berdych lost his concentration. Ferrer finally nailed the set and match in the tenth game of the final set, when Berdych committed a double fault.
