Tomas Berdych saved all three break points on Saturday to move into the third round of the Miami Open presented by Itau. The 10th seed advanced past #NextGenATP player Andrey Rublev of Russia 6-3, 6-2 in 72 minutes.
Berdych struck eight aces in the routine win and will meet 24th seed Gilles Muller in the third round. The left-handed Muller survived a tight second-round contest against Italian Andreas Seppi 7-6(3), 7-6(1). All nine break points faced in the match were saved.
Berdych, No. 14 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, is making his 12th consecutive appearance in South Florida and has fared well throughout his career at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament.
