Czech Republic journey to Germany for a 2016 World Group first-round contest.
Last tie 18-20 September 2015
The Czechs maintained their World Group status with a 3-1 victory over India in a tie of surprising results in humid New Delhi. Lukas Rosol got the visitors off to a flyer by beating Yuki Bhambri. Somdev Devvarman shocked Jiri Vesely though to level the tie. The surprises continued as Rohan Bopanna and Leander Paes were well beaten by Adam Pavlasek and Radek Stepanek in the doubles, before Vesely took down Bhambri to seal a Czech triumph.
Following their 2013 victory over Serbia, Czech Republic have now won the Davis Cup on three occasions. The first victory came in 1980, when they played as Czechoslovakia, with the second coming in 2012. They have also finished runners-up on two further occasions, in 1975 and 2009. Along with USA, they have appeared in the World Group in all but one year. Czech players represented Czechoslovakia until 1992, and then Czech/Slovak Republics in 1993.
