2010 French Open Semifinal - Tomas Berdych vs Robin Soderling

Tomas Berdych is a first-time Grand Slam semifinalist and the first player from the Czech Republic to reach the Roland Garros semifinals since 1992. Berdych, who beat No. 11 Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals, has won all 15 of his sets in the tournament. He will face Robin Soderling of Sweden in the semifinals on Friday, June 4, 2010. The men's semifinal round will be the first at a Grand Slam tournament without Federer since he lost in the third round of the 2004 French Open to Gustavo Kuerten.

Soderling won his semifinal match over Tomas Berdych 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 on Friday and will play in Sunday's finals against the winner of Friday's other semifinal match between  Nadal and Jurgen Melzer, which was played later Friday.


Berdych, ranked No, 17, had never been past the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event before this week, and the past three years his results at the French Open consisted of two first-round losses and a second-round defeat.
