listen to Tomas in Czech

(interview May 25, 2010 in Paris)

what he said:

Of course, Tomas is very much looking forward to returning to the Top 10, however he doesn’t want to talk too much about it and increase pressure on himself. He enjoys a great season so far, beat big names on clay, Almagro, Gasquet, Feliciano Lopez.... but takes things week after week. This year he is doing better on clay – suffered an early exit in Round 1 last year, l. to Simone Bolelli. He is working hard with his coach Tomas Krupa, trying to improve mental preparation, concentration on court, physical fitness and strokes, especially the backhand. He feels good and hopes he will carry his good form over to grass. He knows that today it won’t be easy to play against a Frenchman with a hostile Parisian crowd, he is prepared for it, is not scared… *même pas peur* Go get 'em, Tomas!

2010 French Open day 4: Rain delays mar action, daily results, news

May 26, 2010 | Sports Examiner - Paula Duffy

Wednesday's second round matches were delayed by heavy rain that fell on and off at Stade Roland Garros during Day 4 of the 2010 French Open.

While the majority of the contests were played to completion some key evening matches were suspended, one of which between Gael Monfils and Italy's Fabio Fognini is tied at 5-5 in the fifth set.

Monfils and Fognini played until almost 10 pm in Paris where the only light that illuminated the flight of the tennis ball came from the scoreboard.

Monfils didn't expect this kind of a fight from the unseeded Italian, playing in his third French Open. Monfils won the first two sets 6-2, 6-4 and seemed on cruise control. Fognini came roaring back to take the next two, 7-5, 6-4.

Other suspended matches of note: Fourth seed, Andy Murray is up a set on Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela 6-2, 3-3.

Marcos Bahgdatis, seeded 25th, is ahead of Marcel Granollers of Spain, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 . American John Isner, the 17th seed has far to go against Marco Chiudenelli, a 19 year-old Swiss player who took the first set in a tie-breaker with the match suspended in the second set with the score 3-3.

Completed matches on the women's side include: Venus Williams over Arantxa Parra Santonia 6-2, 6-4., Caroline Wozniacki (3rd seed) beat Tathiana Garbin of Italy, 6-3, 6-1, Svetlana Kuznetsova needed three sets to take care of Andrea Petkovic of Germany, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Completed men's draw matches include: Roger Federer cruised past Alejandro Falla of Colombia 7-6 (7), 6-2, 6-4, Tomas Berdych (15th seed) beat France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-5, 6-1, 6-4, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (8th seed) got past Josellin Ouanna of France, 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 and Russia's Mikhail Youzhny (11th seed) defeated Lukas Lacko of Slovenia 6-7 (10), 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

Bravo Tomas... Keep going strong!

Czech Tomas Berdych acknowledges the crowd following victory in his men's second round match against Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France in the French Open tennis championship at the Roland Garros stadium, on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, in Paris. Berdych won 7-5, 6-1, 6-4

Personal Note: I am happy for Tomas who could enjoy a pleasant atmosphere on the Court 2. Of course there were plenty of "Edouard, Edouard, Edouard", but nothing  wrong since Edouard Roger Vasselin is Parisian. Tomas on his side had the support of a little Czech Berdych Army and we could hear thunderous applause "Berdych, Berdych, Berdych". It was nice for Tomas. I am happy for my player. Je l'aime trop and I was not the only one!
