Juan Monaco (ARG) vs Fabio Fognini (ITA) - ATP
Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) vs Philipp Petzschner (GER) - ATP
Tomas received a bye for the first round, and in the second round he will play against Frenchman Florent Serra. They have played against each other once before. It was at the Masters Series Hamburg in 2006. I was surprised to find out that Serra won the match in 3 sets 6-4, 0-6, 7-5. Well, time for revenge.
finally Tomas won! it was laborious, to say the least
it's just started and after only 4 minutes of play, Tomas faces 1st bp
it was a festival of break points, very stressful behind the computer only following Live Scores
well, it's no no walk in the park against Florent Serra, a player currently ranked 63 in the world
Tomas managed to fight wind, opponent and his nerves. He wins 1st set in 48 minutes. Keep on going!
at the beginning of 2nd set... break opportunity for Tomas...
alas, Serra holds his serve
see Tomas is up 3-2 and to serve for leading with a comfortable 4-2, sounds good
but no... it's Serra who can break Tomas' serve *mad, mad, mad*
arrghhhh, Serra... he did it!
you think Tomas will make it to 5-5.... but....
nooooooooo... unbelievable, Serra breaks AND win 2nd set by 6-4. Tomas should have won the whole thing
and me I should be sleeping and making sweet dreams about victory.
in the 3rd set, look at this... 3 mp... OK on Serra's serve... but still... THREE mp in his racquet!
.... seems that the gods of tennis are on Serra's side who saves all 3 MPs
Finally after an epic match of 2 hours 17 minutes Tomas gets 3 MPs, this time on his serve
...and it's all good on the 2nd mp. I can go to bed it's 2:18 AM here in Europa. nite-nite
I dont' want to think about his next round against lefty Verdasco, windy tournament,
overall shitty court 6 with no live streaming, no tv coverage, no photo of Tomas in the media. Nothing. I'm just happy that Tomas is through to Round 3 at Indian Wells Masters 1000. Last year Tomas lost in the 1st round to Viktor Troicki 3-6 1-6, well, today's victory is sweet! Bravo Tomas who must be relieved to be through. It was not easy.
