Berdych enters SAP Open tennis tournament (February 8-14, 2010)
Twentieth-ranked Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic will make his SAP Open debut, organizers of the men's professional tennis tournament in San Jose announced Thursday.
Berdych is the sixth top-25 player to enter the tournament, Feb. 8-14, 2010, at HP Pavilion. He joins No. 7 Andy Roddick, No. 9 Fernándo Verdasco, No. 18 Tommy Haas, No. 22 Lleyton Hewitt and No. 25 Sam Querrey. Also entered are Bob and Mike Bryan, the No. 1 doubles team in the world.
The SAP Open is the second oldest men’s professional tennis tournament in the United States, first held in 1889. In its120-year history, the tournament has seen great champions such as Arthur Ashe,John McEnroe, Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl, Pete Sampras and more recently, Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick.
