Tomas set a third-round clash with Gael Monfils at the Mutua Madrid Open after defeating Kevin Anderson on Tuesday. In the second round, Gael Monfils benefited from Igor Andreev retirement‎ because of an injury. Monfils starts comeback in Madrid -was suffering from left knee- he played his first competitive match since the Miami Masters (d. Kohlschreiber)..

Tomas Berdych strolls past Gael Monfils in Madrid













 

Sixth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych won 28 of his 32 service points to beat No. 12 seed Gael Monfils of France 6-1, 6-1 in just 50 minutes. It was a repeat of February's Open Sud de France final in Montpellier. Berdych is now 24-6 on the season.
