Tomas Berdych interview (my translation)

- About the surface, how good is it for you?

TB: The surface we chose gives us an advantage. It has been the same when we were in Argentina, you have chosen clay and the advantage has been for you. Yes, the surface in Ostrava is very fast and we like to play here. We won almost all our matches and yes, that is good.

- Are you the favorites?

TB: It's hard to say who is the favorite. We have a good team, maybe better, we play on home soil, we could choose the surface, but on the other hand it's also about playing against Juan Martín (Del Potro), who is number 5 of the world, he has much experience, he is playing well, won several tournaments, had good results. The others also have experience in Davis Cup, so I don't think we are really the favorites. We will enter the court and try to win three points, that's all.

- Experience... another point in your favor?

TB: Well, it may be, because if you look at the matches that we played against France, they had Tsonga, Monfils, Simon, I think all three were top ten or approaching and we won. If you ask any before, you would have said that we had no chance. Tennis is like this and our experience in this case was important. Now we'll see what happens this weekend.

- Will the pressure be for you or for Argentina?

TB: I think there will be pressure for both teams.

- How will be the audience?

TB: The public represents no pressure for us, and it is also one of our advantages. The public is just a player more in the team, they will help us a lot. I hope they come in very large numbers and fill the stadium and that the atmosphere will be nice.

-You will play against Monaco. What do you think of him?

TB: He is a good player, but we will play on a fast surface, and it is not his favorite. So the surface will be our advantage.

- What is the key of the encounter?

TB: ...going slowly, carefully and managing to win the three points, but you never know.
