Notes about the tournament
Andy Roddick is the top seed for the SAP Open tennis tournament that begins Monday at HP Pavilion. He will play his first-round match in the 7 p.m. session Wednesday against a qualifier.
Andy Murray won the 1st title of his career, in San Jose 2006.
The tournament begins Monday, highlighted by an exhibition match between Pete Sampras and No. 2 seed Fernando Verdasco. Verdasco plays his first-round match Wednesday night against Yen-Hsun Lu after the conclusion of Roddick's match.
Tuesday's featured match is fourth-seeded Tommy Haas vs. Devin Britton in the 7 p.m. session. That match will be followed by brothers Bob and Mike Bryan in their first-round doubles match.
The other seeded players are No. 3 and defending champion Radek Stepanek, No. 5 Tomas Berdych, No. 6 Philipp Kohlschreiber, No. 7 Sam Querrey and No. 8 Jeremy Chardy.
The semifinals will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The final is 1 p.m. Sunday.
