This is one of those challengers that are usually visited by pretty familiar names, as it is during the second week of the French Open, and those who fail to make their stand on the French clay, usually come here. An example for this is Tomas Berdych, but for him this tournament has another meaning, as he plays in front of his home crowd. He might not be one of the better clay-courters, but he won't make a fool of himself, in front of his supporters, and especially not against his opponent, Simone Vagnozzi. The Italian has played some matches this year, but only one for the pros, the rest only in challengers or futures, and he has been far from impressive, not managing even a single win against a top 200 player.

Tomas Berdych and Bohdan Ulihrach are the last two Czech players that remained in singles of the Prostejov tournament. Under the sliding roof of the Prostejov AGROFERT Arena. Berdych defeated Italian player Vagnozzi. Under the same roof No2 seed Russian Andreev made his move to another round too. Michal Tabara, who had received a free card from the organizers, lost the tiebreak and finally the whole battle with Austrian Slanar which was a great pity with a view to the possible development of the tournament – in the second round there would have been local Prostejov derby Berdych / Tabara. Before the match at the press conference Tomas Berdych had said: "I firmly believe that Michal will win. We have trained a lot together, we know each other well and I am sure that it will be an interesting match" However, it never happened; Tabara didn't use maybe his last chance in Prostejov challenger. Tomas Berdych is going to fight to move into the quarterfinals with Slanar, the defeater of Tabara, and Bohdan Ulihrach is going to throw down the glove to Spanish Martin. "We know each other well, Martin is a strong-willed clay player, you have to fight hard for every fifteen", stated today Bohdan Ulihrach.

Four quarterfinal duels in singles and two semi-finals in doubles are on schedule of the 15th UniCredit Czech Open 2008 today. How many irons in the fire does the Czech tennis have?
No 1 seed, Tomas Berdych, is masterfully stepping higher and higher and Bohdan Ulihrach undoubtedly desires to defend his last year's semi-finals. On the central court Argentinian Augustin Calleri is going to fight the defender of the title and compatriot in one person, Sergio Roitman. The match between Bohdan Ulihrach and Belgian Christoph Rochuss is beginning right after. At 2.30 as the earliest the duel between Tomas Berdych and Brazilian Belluci is scheduled for.
